The SONY FE 135mm f/1.8 GM, prized for its ability to isolate focus, is a medium telephoto device characterized by its bright and sophisticated design. The maximum aperture of f/1.8 excels in low-light conditions and also offers greater control over depth of field for working with selective focusing techniques. The advanced optical design incorporates two extra-low dispersion elements, including a Super ED element, to reduce chromatic aberrations and an XA (extreme aspherical) element, which significantly controls spherical aberrations for a high degree of sharpness and image clarity. In addition, a Nano AR coating has been applied to limit the ghosting effect and lens flare to increase contrast and color fidelity when working in bright lighting conditions.

As a complement to the optical assets, this lens is also notable for its inclusion of an 11-blade circular diaphragm to produce smooth, smooth-edged bokeh with selective focus images. To control focus, an XD linear motor system is employed that is fast and quiet, and also provides more sensitive control for manual focus operation. The lens also has a sealed design against dust and moisture to support shooting in adverse conditions and dedicated buttons to maintain focus, AF/MF switch and manual aperture ring lend greater control during shooting.

• An XD linear motor system and internal focusing mechanism provide fast, quiet and accurate autofocus performance, and also contribute to more natural and intuitive manual focus control. An AF/MF switch is located on the lens cylinder for touch control over this setting.
