17-35mm F/2.8-4 Di OSD (model A037), for full-frame DSLR cameras of CANON and NIKON. With this lens, TAMRON wanted to exploit the best of ultra-wide-angle zoom optics. Its image quality must be exceptional and, in turn, it must be a very portable lens. At just 90mm long and 460g in weight, the A037 is the lightest and smallest in its class. The focal length ranges from a 17mm ultra-wide-angle ideal for professional landscapers to a standard 35mm, ideal for spontaneous shots. In wide-angle you can enjoy a luminous F/ 2.8 and in telephoto it would be F/4. This model debuts a new autofocus engine: quieter, more accurate and faster. Its sealed construction at key points and a special fluoride coating protect you against moisture and dust enhancing the photography experience wherever you go.

HIGHLIGHTS

High-performance imaging for shooting vast landscapes in sharp detail
The 17-35mm F/2.8-4 consists of 15 elements (placed in 10 groups). 4 of the lenses are low dispersion LD (Low Dispersion) to minimize chromatic aberrations common in wide-angle lenses. Thanks to two GM (Glass Molded Aspherical) elements, other types of distortions are corrected satisfactorily. This lens has optimized space and components to the maximum and is therefore the smallest and lightest in its category* delivering unbeatable image quality. The engineers made a special effort to improve the portability of this lens without diminishing the quality. The lens has also been designed to reproduce the peripheral view, facilitating a high degree of contrast and sharpness. The lens has also been carefully designed to allow peripheral point image reproducibility and thereby facilitate a high degree of sharpness and contrast.

The Minimum Object Distance (MOD) is just 28 cm for the entire zoom range. Therefore, it is possible to create images with a background blur by opening the diaphragm to the maximum and shooting at a short distance from the object.

Backlit brightness control thanks to a special coating to a proven design in various simulations
For a wide-angle lens, a good management of the background brightness is very important because, in many cases, they are powerful and penetrate the image. The A037 has a very elaborate construction that counteracts ghosting repeatedly. A BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating reduces unwanted reflections inside the lens, suppressing all kinds of anomalies in the image and controlling them throughout the entire zoom range.

OSD (Optimized Silent Drive) enables both excellent AF and minimum drive noise
The 17-35mm F/2.8-4 debuts a new autofocus system, the OSD (Optimized Silent Drive) engine that optimizes every movement and has, therefore, a much quieter and faster operability than similar lenses. TAMRON is proud to present this technology that stands out thanks to precision, speed and sound in turn. Therefore, the 17-35mm F/2.8-4 can be used even in situations where extreme silence is required even when focusing on moving objects.

A soft and delicate bokeh thanks to its circular opening
The diaphragm of the A037 is composed of 7 sheets. Therefore, the brightness in the background of the image has that soft and perfectly circular shape. Even with more open focusing distances, the brightnesses still appear completely circular. This forms a soft background bokeh with soft light dots. Nothing disturbs this harmonious geometry.

Special sealing for much more protection
To prevent leakage of liquids or rain, the most delicate areas of the surface such as the buttons and the frame have been subjected to a special seal. Shots outdoors and with adverse weather conditions are not an impediment to enjoy your TAMRON 17-35mm.

Fluoride coating
