The key feature of the 055XPRO3 is its 90° central column mechanism, which allows it to be extended vertically as normal, or horizontally, which opens up a wide range of framing and shooting possibilities; this function makes the 055XPRO3 an extremely versatile tripod, suitable for a wide variety of photo and video applications. The mechanism to place the column horizontally is housed inside the superior structure of the tripod to achieve a more compact size, and extends quickly and easily when necessary. The change from vertical to horizontal column does not require disassembling any parts, and can be done even with the camera mounted.

The legs of the 055XPRO3 tripod also extend very quickly, thanks to the Quick Power Lock section locking lever system.
