EF VILTROX CANON to SONY E Adapter

This VILTROX 0.71x lens mount adapter allows you to mount a full-frame CANON EF mount lens on a SONY E-mount camera. While doing so, the adapter's optics help maximize the apparent angle of view of the connected lens while providing a unique magnification for the camera in the lens aperture range.

If a lens designed for 35mm film or full-frame camera sensors of similar size is connected to a SONY E-mount camera, it will project a larger image than the camera's APS-C size sensor accepts. Capable of capturing only the central part of the projected image, the effective angle of view of the lens would narrow, creating a "crop factor" in the camera. This adapter condenses light from a lens designed for 35mm film or "full-frame" camera sensors and projects it onto the APS-C sensor of a SONY E-mount camera. This allows the APS-C sensor to use more light collected by a connected lens, effectively reducing the crop factor while making an additional light stop available to the sensor for each of the lens' f/stop settings.

If a compatible lens includes autofocus as well as camera-controlled aperture functions, this adapter is designed to allow the use of those functions. In addition, if an attached lens is capable of generating Exif metadata when used with a directly compatible camera, this adapter is designed to allow that information to be saved along with image files generated with a combination of the lens, a compatible E-mount SONY camera, and the adapter.

This adapter is built with four lens elements in four groups that are designed to provide optical clarity and color fidelity, and the bottom of its detachable tripod foot is threaded with a 1/4"-20 accessory thread, allowing direct connection to the tripods. or quick release plates that feature 1/4"-20 mounts. To make updating your firmware easier, this adapter also includes a micro-USB port.

For SONY E-mount compatible cameras that feature phase detection autofocus and contrast detection, a toggle switch is placed to enable those autofocus settings with a CANON EF-mount lens attached along the side of this adapter. To correctly apply a desired autofocus setting, the toggle switch selection must be made before placing the adapter in the camera.

This adapter is compatible with SONY NEX-5C, C3, 5N, F3, 5R, 6, 7, FS700, VG20 and VG900 cameras.
