FUJIFILM Corporation (President: Shigehiro Nakajima) is pleased to announce that the new "FUJINON XF1.4X TC WR TELECONVERTER", a teleconverter that expands the telephoto area of some X*1 mount lenses, will be added to the "X Series" interchangeable lens range for high-end mirrorless cameras in November 2015.

The "FUJINON XF1.4X TC WR TELECONVERTER" is a high-performance teleconverter capable of 1.4x the focal length of mounted lenses*1. Although the aperture is one step higher when mounted, the teleconverter incorporates an excellent optical design with a 7-element structure in 3 groups to maintain the optical performance of the original lens. In addition, thanks to the unified design when mounted on a compatible lens*1, the teleconverter is resistant to weather and dust and operates at temperatures as low as -10 °C. This makes it possible to use it confidently outdoors with the X-T1 camera body and the XF 50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR lens, which is also weather and dust resistant.

1.Main features

High-image quality design that maintains the optical performance of the original lens

The 7-element structure in 3 groups maintains the optical performance of the original lens.

By using the optimal image quality parameters for the overall characteristics of the original lens and the 1.4x teleconverter, it is possible to achieve excellent image performance with excellent aberration suppression when the focal length is multiplied by 1.4.

The camera displays and records information reflecting the change in aperture and focal length when the teleconverter is mounted.

The camera's autofocus performance is not affected by the addition of the teleconverter

A lens-equivalent AF speed is achieved only when the teleconverter is mounted.

Thanks to the "Live View" contrast-detection autofocus on mirrorless cameras, shooting with minimum aperture values is still possible despite the increase of one aperture stop when mounting the teleconverter. In addition, precise focusing at super-telephoto focal lengths with shallow depth of field is made possible by the AF performed by the image sensor.

Weather and dust resistant and capable of operating in temperatures down to -10°C

Using the teleconverter with a weather-resistant camera and lens, such as the high-end "FUJIFILM X-T1" mirrorless camera and the "FUJINON XF 50-140mm F2.8 R LM OIS WR" lens, does not affect the weather resistance of the system.

Subtle, high-quality appearance

The high-quality metal exterior of the teleconverter has been designed with the X system in mind. When mounted on a compatible FUJINON lens, the two products look like a single lens.
