Canon 16-35mm f4 L lens
The 16-35mm f Canon EF 4L IS USM is a wide zoom angle lens with a constant f/4 maximum aperture to provide consistent performance across the zoom range. The optical design incorporates three aspherical elements, including a large-diameter aspherical element, as well as two UD (ultra-low dispersion) elements to minimize chromatic aberrations and contribute to high sharpness and edge-to-edge resolution. A fluorine coating has also been applied to the surfaces of the front and rear lenses to reduce reflections and the ghosting effect of maintained color neutrality and image contrast. Benefiting from working in difficult lighting conditions, an optical image stabilizer has been integrated into the lens design to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to an effective four shutter speed stops. For fast, smooth and near-silent autofocus performance, a USM (Ultrasonic Motor) ring-type AF motor is used and benefits from an internal focus design to maintain the overall length of the lens during use. Full-time manual focus can also be used to fine-tune focusing accuracy as close as 11" over the entire zoom range. When paired with an optional Protect filter, this lens also exhibits dust-resistant and water-resistant construction to allow it to be used in inclement conditions.
- The L-series zoom wide-angle lens is suitable for use on both full-screen and APS-C sensors (where it provides a 35mm equivalent focal length of 25.6-56mm) and features a constant f/4 maximum aperture for consistent performance across the zoom range.
- Two UD elements and three aspherical lenses, one of them with a large diameter aspherical element, have been incorporated into the optical design to minimise aberrations and distortions throughout the zoom range.
- A fluorine coating has been applied to the surfaces of the front and rear lenses to reduce the ghosting effect of careful image contrast and color fidelity.
- Optical Image Stabilizer A helps minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to four stops to improve ease of use in difficult lighting conditions.
- A ring-type USM AF motor, coupled with an internal focus design, accounts for fast and accurate focusing performance.
- Focus full-time manual focus permissions for critical accuracy, even in AF mode.
- When an optional 77mm protective filter is used, the lens realizes dust and water-resistance for use in treating environmental conditions.
- A nine-blade circular diaphragm helps produce a quality out-of-focus aesthetic.
