High brightness f/2.8 (maximum aperture)
A maximum aperture of f/2.8 allows you to capture photos without flash quickly, in low-light situations, as well as achieving good control of depth of field.
Aspherical and UD elements
In order to provide optimal visual results, this lens incorporates two types of special lens elements: aspherical elements to correct spherical aberrations, and Super UD (Ultra-low Dispersion = Ultra-low Dispersion) elements to eliminate secondary chromatic aberrations. The result is sharp, high-contrast, distortion-free images, even in peripheral areas of the frame.
Autofocus with ring USM motor with manual adjustment
The Canon autofocus system with ring USM motor employs ultrasonic frequency vibrations for fast, accurate and virtually inaudible operation with excellent movement. Manual focus adjustment at all times, using a large ring that does not rotate during autofocus, allows photographers to fine-tune focus instantly.
Super Spectra Coating
Super Spectra coatings help achieve precise color balance and high contrast, while suppressing flare and stray images by absorbing light that could be reflected by the internal elements of the lens and by the sensors of EOS digital cameras.
Circular opening
The circular aperture of the lens allows you to capture images with a smooth and uniform blurred background, which is ideal for capturing isolated subjects with large apertures and making high-impact portraits.
Accessories
The EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM lens includes a built-in petal hood to protect the front lens element, improve contrast and prevent vignetting. A lens cap and flexible pouch are also supplied.
