A compact and lightweight camera, the Canon EOS R50 Black is a highly versatile mirrorless camera with a sophisticated set of photography and video features. Aimed at content creators and vloggers, this camera is slightly smaller and lighter than the EOS M50 Mark II and features an upgraded 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and a DIGIC X image processor to deliver high-resolution stills and UHD 4K videos.

24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and DIGIC X processing

With a powerful 24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor and a DIGIC X image processor, the R50 delivers high-resolution images with bold, accurate colours. Designed to work in a variety of lighting conditions, this camera offers a flexible range of ISO 100-32000 that can be expanded to ISO 51200 to work in difficult lighting conditions. Using the full width of the sensor, UHD 4K 30p video recording with 6K oversampling is supported, as well as Full HD 1080 120p for slow-motion playback. In addition, 1 hour of video recording is now available. Capable of processing high-speed bursts and high-resolution 4K video, the DIGIC X image processor also supports continuous shooting at up to 15fps via its silent electronic shutter.

Enhanced dual-pixel AF II CMOS

With 651 high-precision autofocus zones, the advanced Dual Pixel CMOS AF II system provides fast and accurate focusing performance. This phase detection focusing system offers enhanced subject detection and tracking, with the ability to intelligently recognize people, animals and vehicles while automatically fixing on these subjects and maintaining sharp focus during bursts and video captures.

2.36m dot EVF and vari-angle LCD touchscreen

Providing high-resolution viewing at eye level, the R50 is designed with a bright and clear 2.36 million dot OLED EVF for a pleasant electronic viewfinder experience. In addition, a large 3.0" 1.62m dot vari-angle touchscreen provides an intuitive interface for controlling focus points, navigating menus and reviewing images. This display also features a vari-angle design for ease of use when working from high places and low angles.

Advanced A+ Support

Experience the joy of creative photography with an expanded variety of self-supporting scenes. Advanced A+ Assist enables excellent images even in harsh environments, such as night views and backlit scenarios. Overexposure is automatically reduced so you can capture dynamic scenes or bright portraits, and multiple continuous shots are taken to create beautiful night images or macro photographs with a greater depth of field.

Simple and convenient browsing

With video recording features like recording uncropped 4K UHD movies at up to 30fps, recording high-frame rate Full-HD movies at up to 120fps, Dual Pixel CMOS AF tracking and Movie for close-up demo mode, the R50 camera makes creating vlogging and video content simple and convenient. The camera also allows you to record video continuously for up to 1 hour, allowing you to set up your video and keep your vlog, podcast, or other video project running without worrying about it stopping.

Make sure the correct subject is in focus with Film for Close-Up Demonstrations mode on the R50 mirrorless camera. This mode quickly shifts the focus of the subject in the camera to an object that is presented towards the camera lens, ideal for films where it is necessary to show a product to viewers, such as makeup demonstrations or cooking videos.

Vertical movie mode and aspect markers

Movie rotation information can be set during or after movie recording, allowing videos to play in vertical composition when viewed on a smartphone. The Appearance Markers feature displays visual markers for different aspect ratios that you may want to post the same file to multiple social networking sites. This screen provides consideration for the proper composition of the different delivery files that can be created during editing.

Flexible Connectivity

Wired and wireless connectivity options allow for multiple methods of photo and video transfer, live streaming, as well as remote camera control. Physically, the camera features a USB-C port, a micro-HDMI port, and a microphone port for video recording.

UVC/UAC compatibility allows the R50 camera to be used as a webcam to stream live video in Full HD without additional computer software. Supported apps include Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, and similar online web conferencing software.
