Dji RS4 | RS4 Stabilizer

The lightweight commercial stabilizer DJI RS 4 offers next-generation native vertical recording with increased operational efficiency, improved stabilization performance and an updated accessory ecosystem. It offers freelance filmmakers a more professional and efficient creative experience and the tools to tell exciting visual stories. DJI RS 4 features a new horizontal plate that enables second-generation native vertical recording for faster and simpler operation. With no need for additional accessories, you can simply release the horizontal plate and lock it in the vertical position to easily switch to vertical recording, laying the foundation for creating vertical videos efficiently.

2nd-generation automatic axis locking

Automatic axis locks allow RS 4 to quickly start operation or enter sleep mode, greatly improving efficiency during recording, transitions and storage. In addition, the axis locks have smaller gaps when locked, further reducing stabilizer vibration.

Our smoothest balancing experience

DJI RS 4 features a Teflon coating on all three axes that reduces friction and enables smoother balancing.

When changing cameras or lenses, the precision adjustment wheel on the tilt axis can move the camera forward or backward for millimeter-accurate balancing.

The top quick-release plate has a built-in adjustable positioning guide to ensure secure camera mounting.

Automatic screen lock

The OLED touchscreen incorporates a new auto lock function. Once locked, the screen will display the current stabilizer and joystick modes with low brightness level. This not only prevents accidental touches, it also helps to save battery power.

Excellent payload capacity

The lightweight body offers a payload capacity of 3 kg (6.6 lb). It can carry combinations of the leading mirrorless cameras and lenses on the market, offering a comfortable grip with firm power.

Compared to the previous generation, the RS 4's tilt axis has been lengthened by 8.5 mm to offer more balancing space. This allows you to mount combinations of the most popular mirrorless cameras and lenses on the market along with accessories, such as ND filters, to expand the scope of creative potential.

4th generation RS stabilization algorithm

DJI has fully optimized the latest-generation RS stabilization algorithm for various usage scenarios. It achieves a superior balance between stabilization strength and tactile perception of camera shake, delivering excellent stabilization performance and an enhanced user experience. In addition, RS 4 offers significantly improved stability in vertical recording, so you can easily stabilize dynamic shots, e.g., running or tilted shots.

Professional creation

DJI RS 4 supports the professional-level features of DJI PRO products, which offer superior performance that makes solo content creation more efficient.

Bluetooth wireless control

DJI RS 4 can remotely control the camera shutter and lens zoom with dual-mode Bluetooth technology. In zoom control mode, you can use the joystick to control the motorized zoom on PZ lenses, as well as Clear Image Zoom, [3] for a native zoom experience. A camera only needs to be paired once. Afterwards it can be reconnected automatically and efficiently.

Compatibility with the DJI Focus Pro engine

When combined with the new DJI Focus Pro engine, [4] DJI RS 4 allows you to control lens focus using the dial or adjust the lens zoom using the joystick. This simple operation enables effective lens control.

Customization of the shutter release function

The shutter release function can be customized in FPV mode, in which, when the shutter release button is held down, the three axes of the stabilizer follow the direction of the grip movement. This is especially useful for shooting spinning video or simulating POV.

Stabilizer mode selector

With the stabilizer mode selector, you can quickly switch between PF, PTF and FPV modes. You can also switch the FPV mode to 3D 360 Rotation mode or Custom mode, depending on your recording needs, to ensure RS 4 is ready for precision.

RSA communication port

DJI RS 4 incorporates an RSA communication port that allows you to connect accessories, such as the DJI RS wired control grip, [6] and third-party accessories, such as control grips [6] and remote control ring grips. [6] You can flexibly switch between different recording configurations according to your creative needs.

Thanks to the DJI RS SDK protocol, third-party manufacturers and individual developers can develop custom functions for RS 4 to meet a wide variety of recording requirements.

DJI RS SDK creates a common ecosystem with developers.

DJI RS SDK is a developer protocol provided by DJI for third-party developers and hardware manufacturers to equip stabilizers, such as RS 4, RS 4 Pro and RS 3 Pro, with more functions for different scenarios.

Applications

  • Create a virtual studio system that can a PC or console to control the RS stabilizer. It also allows online control of multiple stabilizers, so that a single operator can easily use them.
  • Mount the RS stabilizer on a slider and link them programmatically for four-dimensional control. You can customize the tracking to easily achieve expressive camera movements.

BG70 high-capacity battery grip DJI RS

The new high-capacity battery grip BG70 DJI RS [6] can increase the battery life of RS 4 up to 29.5 hours. [7] It also allows up to 18 watts of power to be supplied to the camera and accessories via the USB-C port on the bottom.

Wide ecosystem of accessories

All accessories in the DJI RS series, [6] such as the BG30 RS battery grip, Focus RS motor (2022) and Ronin image transmitter, are RS 4 compatible.

  • The data were measured by comparing the battery runtime of DJI RS 4 equipped with the BG70 DJI RS high-capacity battery grip, and that of DJI RS 4 equipped with the BG21 DJI RS battery grip. The battery run time was measured in an indoor environment at 25 °C (77 °F) with the stabilizer balanced, in a level and stationary state, until the battery level reached 3 % (with the battery grip powering the stabilizer only).
  • The stabilizer should be balanced again after switching between horizontal and vertical recording. See more details on camera and lens compatibility on the Ronin series compatibility search page.
  • The DJI RS 4 Pack includes a DJI Focus Pro motor. For the standalone version, the motor is sold separately.
