Power, connectivity and reliability, the Canon Speedlite EL-1 is an in-camera E-TTL/E-TTL II compatible flash that is characterized by its flexibility to adapt to a variety of lighting needs. With a xenon flash tube, greater exposure stability is possible along with a powerful guide number of 197' at ISO 100 and versatile exposure control from 1/1 full power to 1/8192 power. Also distinct, the EL-1 uses the LP-EL rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack to promote shorter recycling times of around 0.9 seconds, approximately 335 flashes per charge, and contributes to better thermal management and active flash cooling system.

Capable of handling professional applications, the EL-1 is fully compatible with RT series flash products for wireless radio control and shooting, including second curtain wireless synchronization, and the flash has a robust physical design equivalent to the dust and water resistance of EOS-1D series camera bodies. Its improved user interface incorporates an updated joystick design, display and control design and features a tunable LED modeling lamp to help preview lighting. In addition, the flash head can fully rotate 180° left and right, bounce up 120° and includes a built-in wide panel.
