DJI Focus | Focus control

The DJI's Focus is a wireless tracking approach that natively integrates with the Zenmuse Z5 series of camera/gimbal systems and can be mounted on platforms equipped with 15mm or 19mm shafts, including the Ronin and Ronin-M gimbals. The DJI Focus features a handheld remote control (transmitter) with a focus knob to give the feel of a traditional mechanical tracking focus. The wireless system has a range of up to 330' of line of sight with a delay of only 14ms.

DJI Focus | Focus control

ADVANCED PRECISION FOLLOW FOCUS SYSTEM
The DJI Focus uses DJI 's expertise in brushless motors to achieve unprecedented levels of precision and reliability. Brushless motors give you an accuracy of ±0.02° so moving the remote control is like moving the lens directly. It also features high torque and fast reaction speed so you can keep your subject in focus no matter how it moves.
DJI Focus Pro, the first standalone automated manual focus (AMF) lens control system from DJI, offers cinematographers a robust and complete focusing solution to enter a new era of focus control through human-machine cooperation.
LiDAR focusing:
now accessible to all
For the first time, DJI introduces a focusing system as a stand-alone product that allows a broad user base to experience the freedom of creative focusing possibilities.
New full-capacity handgrip
The new DJI Focus Pro grip offers 2.5-hour power supply, intuitive on-screen operations, automatic calibration and data storage for 15 targets, Bluetooth start/stop recording and manual recording capability, to provide an exceptional LiDAR focusing experience, even without a Ronin stabilizer.
Touchscreen parameter adjustments and LiDAR view sync
The handgrip, equipped with a full-color touchscreen, allows LiDAR and motor parameters to be adjusted, and can display a real-time view of the LiDAR perspective for operators to see when using the handgrip.
Automatic calibration: convenient and efficient
The DJI Ronin application has integrated target data that can be imported into the Focus Pro motor via Bluetooth connection with the grip. A single motor can store data for up to 15 targets.
Bluetooth connectivity: wireless control
The grip can be connected directly via Bluetooth to mirrorless cameras to wirelessly start/stop recording. It can also be paired via Bluetooth with the DJI Ronin app for manual lens calibration.
2.5 hours of operation: use while charging
The grip offers 2.5 hours of power supply for the LiDAR and focus motor. It can also be used uninterrupted while charging via third-party PD fast-charging batteries.
Advanced autofocus:
a leap forward
Farther and wider focus
the LiDAR focus distance to people has been increased to 20 meters, [2] approximately three times that of the previous generation, [3] for easy recording with telephoto lenses. a super-wide 70° field of view provides room to easily frame edges and capture close-ups, greatly increasing creative freedom.
More accurate and stable focusing
The renewed LiDAR now offers 76,800 measurement points, a 77% increase over the previous generation, [3] to improve edge person detection and effectively reduce focus hunting. In addition, with a LiDAR refresh rate of 30 Hz, focus is stably fixed, even when the target is moving rapidly.
With the help of new AI algorithms, more reliable recognition of people and vehicles can be achieved. Even if the target is covered for a moment, LiDAR can quickly regain focus.
Flexible combinations for various situations Focus Pro consists of four main modules:
LiDAR, motor, grip and handheld unit. Filmmakers can flexibly combine these modules as needed for shooting.
Independent filmmakers can use LiDAR autofocus to dramatically improve shooting efficiency and ensure outstanding creative results.
With the revolutionary AMF mode applied for the first time on both the handheld unit and the grip, DJI Focus Pro sets a new standard for human-machine collaboration in focus control to suit a wide variety of creative needs.
Focus that shows
in AMF mode, while autofocus is operating, the front dial on the grip (or the focus wheel on the handheld unit) rotates simultaneously. This allows cinematographers to visually observe the focus status on the monitor and intuitively notice the autofocus logic through tactile feedback on their fingers, so they can immediately decide when to intervene manually.
Switching between manual and automatic in milliseconds
Focus control is always at your fingertips. In AMF mode, manual focus control can be switched on and off in milliseconds. Not only does this more accurately capture the operator's intent, ensuring consistent visual storytelling, it also greatly improves efficiency on set by reducing interruptions caused by focus mode changes.
Dynamic focus, the best of both worlds
The innovative AMF function offers unlimited creative possibilities. In AMF mode, LiDAR, together with human intervention, produces a focusing experience that is as elegant and dynamic as it is efficient and comfortable. It's an excellent hybrid experience that combines the power and reliability of technology with the intuition and creativity of human operators.
Turn the dial to achieve an AMF focus transition:
ideal for narrative scenes.
Hold down the dial to lock AMF focus:
ideal for scenes with foreground obstacles.
An overview for focus assist
Thanks to LiDAR DJI Focus Pro, filmmakers can achieve a more intuitive understanding of a target's spatial position and use LiDAR waveform focus assist [4] via the high-brightness remote monitor DJI, to have an overview of the entire scene.
in addition, the LiDAR waveform provides complementary information, such as target position, a real-time focal plane reference line, and a distance scale, which help to assess the autofocus status and anticipate the optimal time to intervene manually.
Lens FIZ control:
dominates the scene
Handheld FIZ unit with magnetic damping
Focusers can effortlessly control the focus, zoom and iris of the lens. Teamwork becomes more efficient and facilitates the recording of more complex scenes.
FIZ engine
The performance of the motor has been significantly improved to offer professionals more precise control and more versatile opportunities for cinematic language.
Magnetically damped grip
One operator can do what a whole crew can do. Filmmakers can switch seamlessly between focus and zoom control for an intuitive and efficient control experience.
