Combining impressive imaging capabilities with a particularly compact design, the FUJIFILM X-T30 Black is a versatile mirrorless camera that is distinguished by advanced stills and video recordings along with elegant and intuitive handling features. With a revised image sensor and processor, high-resolution stills and 4K video can be recorded, while a suitable autofocus system provides fast and accurate focusing performance. The sensor, a 26.1MP APS-C format X-Trans CMOS 4, features a backlit design to promote better image quality across the sensitivity range, along with a 425-point phase-detection autofocus system for fast and accurate AF performance and subject tracking. Complementing the image and focus is the X-Processor 4, which uses four CPUs for faster image processing, as well as continuous shooting at up to 8fps with a mechanical shutter, 30fps with a 1.25x crop and electronic shutter, and internal DCI UHD 4K30 video recording.

Sharing a familiar aesthetic of FUJIFILM's X-series cameras, the X-T30 has a classically inspired appearance, has prominent physical controls and a 2.36m high-resolution OLED electronic viewfinder. Conversely, a 1.04m rear LCD screen with tilting touchscreen can also be used for live view shots and larger image playback. In addition, the X-T30 also features built-in Bluetooth for wireless sharing and remote control.

• 26.1MP APS-C X-Trans BSI CMOS 4 Sensor & X-Processor 4

Sharing a sensor with the professional-oriented X-T3, the X-T30 features a 26.1MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS 4 APS-C sensor, which features a backlit design that delivers smooth tonal reproduction and improved low-light performance, and a low native ISO 160 setting. As an X-Trans sensor, it also uses a randomized pixel array, which provides a high degree of image quality and sharpness due to the omission of an optical low-pass filter. Compared to conventional pixel patterns, the X-Trans design more closely mimics the organic nature of film to produce nuanced colors and tonal transitions, while reducing moiré and aliasing.

The sensor design also includes an expanded phase-detection autofocus system, which now features 425 selectable points covering almost the entire sensor area. This AF system offers faster and more accurate focusing performance along with low-light sensitivity up to EV -3. Complementing the imaging and focusing capabilities, an updated X-Processor 4 is also included, which provides faster focus response for subject tracking and also supports face and eye detection AF when working in AF-C mode and when recording video.

The X-Processor 4 also uses four CPU units for faster image processing and benefits overall performance with faster AF and tracking speeds. Fast continuous shooting is possible, up to 8 fps with a mechanical shutter or 30 fps with an electronic shutter and 1.25x crop, and internal UHD 4K30 video recording with F-Log is also supported.

• UHD and DCI 4K video recording

More than just a still camera, the X-T30 offers a wide range of video capabilities, including internal UHD 4K30 video recording at up to 200 Mb/s, and simultaneous external and internal recording is possible. DCI 4K30 and Full HD 1080p120 recording is also possible, and video files can be saved using MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 or HEVC/H.265 compressions, and 4K. With a huge advantage in overall video performance, the X-Processor 4 quad CPU speed enables fast readout speeds when shooting 4K video, helping to reduce blind distortion when shooting moving subjects.

The X-T30 also includes F-Log gamma adjustment, which provides a flat image for use in advanced color grading software during editing. This maximizes the potential dynamic range in difficult scenes and image adjustments can also be made to bring out tone, shadow tone, color, and sharpness. When working in F-Log, an updated noise reduction algorithm is available along with 4K inter-frame noise reduction, and the minimum sensitivity has been reduced to ISO 640 to suit working on a wider range of scene types.

• Body

 Bright and clear for eye-level viewing, a 2.36m-dot OLED electronic viewfinder offers 0.62x magnification with a fast refresh rate, wide viewing angle, and adjustable diopter settings. The viewfinder remains free of obscuration while shooting up to the shooting speed of the most important 30fps, and a dedicated Sports Finder Mode can also be used, which highlights a 16.6MP crop area of the sensor to allow you to see outside the image frame.
In addition to the EVF. A 3.0" 1.04M-DOT rear LCD touchscreen is available for intuitive live capture, playback and review, and configuration settings and menu navigation. The display also has a bidirectional tilt design to suit working from high and low angles, regardless of whether you shoot in a landscape or portrait orientation.
The top plate incorporates a series of dials and levers for quick and intuitive control of exposure settings, including a shutter speed dial that offers direct shutter speed adjustment, a mode dial and an exposure compensation dial to choose +/- 3 EV in 1/3 steps, while a command dial position expands the range to +/- 5 EV for greater control.
Front and rear control dials integrate a push function for ease of use and selection of settings, and function buttons can be assigned to control a range of settings
A dedicated focus lever provides faster, more intuitive control over the selection of specific focus points during shooting.
Built-in Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy allows you to wirelessly share images on a mobile device or use the device to control the camera remotely.

• Film simulation and grain effect modes

Drawing on FUJIFILM's vast history in traditional film-based photography, the X-T30 integrates several film simulation modes. These modes mimic the look and feel of some of FUJIFILM's classic film types, including Eterna, which copies the look and feel of a cinematic film with discreet colors and richer shades of shadow; Acros, which offers soft tones, deep blacks and fine details; and Classic Chrome, which is designed to deliver muted tones and deep color reproduction, similar to that of a dated slide movie. Several other effects are also available for both monochrome and color photography. In addition to simulating specific types of film, a grain effect mode is also available to replicate the look of old film photos with an organic textured look, which is especially noticeable when printed.

Continuing FUJIFILM's series of portable compact cousins, the XF black 16mm f/2.8 R WR is a 24mm equivalent wide-angle lens, well suited for landscapes, nature and architectural photography. Its maximum aperture of f/2.8 balances size and speed, and it's suitable for working in available lighting conditions, while limiting the overall size and weight of the lens for everyday use. The optical design features two aspherical elements to reduce distortion and spherical aberrations to produce greater sharpness and accurate representation. A Super EBC coating is also used to control brightness and ghosting to improve contrast and color fidelity when working in bright, backlit light conditions. To complement the optics, there is a stepper motor, along with an internal focus design, which provides fast and especially quiet focusing performance. In addition, the lens is weather-sealed to adapt to working in inclement conditions.
