The FUJIFILM XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR II lens is the zoom standard second-generation lens designed for FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras in APS-C format and offers a portrait length and wide-angle range equivalent to 24-84mm. Characterized by its bright constant maximum aperture of f/2.8, this lens has a proven ability to operate in difficult lighting conditions and shallow depth of field and now features enhanced resolving power for FUJIFILM's latest 40 MP sensors, all with a significant reduction in size and weight.

Optical design

Its optical design includes aspherical elements, extra-low dispersion elements, and a super-extra-low dispersion element, all of which help reduce distortion and color fringing to improve sharpness and color accuracy throughout the zoom range. A fluorine coating has also been applied to protect the front element by repelling water, oil, and fingerprints.

Three extra-low dispersion elements and one Super ED element are used to greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce high clarity and color fidelity throughout the zoom range.

Four aspherical elements control distortion and spherical aberrations, helping to improve sharpness and achieve a more accurate rendering.

Silent autofocus

A linear motor autofocus system delivers smooth, near-silent performance that's now faster and more accurate, which is especially beneficial for video applications and when working in noise-sensitive areas.

Focus oscillation and subject search are also minimized for clarity during important shots.

The detachable aperture ring allows for quiet and precise control of the lens during video recording.

The rounded 11-blade diaphragm provides a smoother, more rounded bokeh effect to add a pleasing out-of-focus quality to selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques.

Weatherproof design

The lens body incorporates extensive weather sealing to protect against dust and moisture, allowing for worry-free use in inclement conditions and sub-zero temperatures up to 14°F.
