Offering FUJIFILM's widest fixed lens coverage to date, the XF 500mm f/5.6 R LM OIS WR lens lets you capture distant subjects such as birds, sports and other wildlife, delivering sharp, continuous focus with subject separation and background blur effects. The 750mm full-frame equivalent lens achieves this image quality while keeping its size and weight to a minimum, aided by 5.5 steps of optical image stabilization to produce results that match the resolving power of the latest 40.2MP X-series sensors.

Lens Design

Weighing less than three pounds and measuring 10.1", the lens design is optimized for handheld use. The 5.5 steps of optical image stabilization further facilitate handheld use by compensating for camera shake. In situations where additional stability is required, the tripod collar foot is Arca-Swiss compatible for use with tripods and monopods.

The optical design consists of five extra-low dispersion elements and two super extra-low dispersion elements, which help reduce distortions and color aberrations normally found in lenses of this length. The 21-element, 14-group optical design delivers the sharpness and clarity needed when shooting with the latest 40.2 MP X-series sensors, while the rounded 9-blade diaphragm offers a smooth, rounded bokeh effect that is enhanced by the spatial compression inherent in super-telephoto focal lengths.

Linear motor autofocus

A linear motor autofocus system offers fast, accurate and near-silent performance, further enhanced by the subject detection algorithms of the X-series cameras. In addition, the lens includes presets designed to minimize focusing times, which is ideal for stopping fast-moving subjects.

Other highlights

The lens is fully compatible with optional 1.4x and 2x teleconverters to further increase the reach to 700mm and 1000mm, respectively, without loss of image quality.

The lens body incorporates extensive weather sealing to protect against dust and moisture, and to enable worry-free use in inclement conditions when used with a weather-resistant X-series camera body.
