Inspire 3 DJI drone

Inspire 3 is a professional camera drone that adopts a new fluid design that fully takes aerodynamics into account to reduce air resistance.

The maximum dive speed has increased from 9 m/s of the Inspire 2 to 10 m/s, while the vertical climb/descent speed has increased from 6 m/s and 4 m/s to 8 m/s. [1]

Powerful maneuverability provides precise, responsive control and an extended flight time of up to 28 minutes. [2]

The FPV camera, visual sensors, positioning antennas and storage card slot adopt designs that integrate seamlessly into the fuselage for a minimalist appearance and modern industrial aesthetic.

Inheriting the classic transformable configuration of the Inspire series, Inspire 3 uses an all-new design that supports 360° Pan and Tilt Boost structures. When the landing gear is lowered, the gimbal supports unobstructed 80° up-angle shooting,[3] allowing cinematographers to capture strikingly innovative shots.

From the exterior design to the internal structure, every detail of the Inspire 3 was carefully considered and optimized.

  • High-mobility precision flight system

Centimeter-level RTK positioning

Inspire 3 integrates high-precision RTK positioning technology used in industries such as architecture and surveying to deliver centimeter-level accuracy. [4] Compared to traditional meter-level positioning supported by global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), RTK not only makes flying more stable, but also makes flight path planning more accurate, significantly improving creative efficiency.

The RTK antennas have been integrated into the structure of the aircraft with a new stacked ceramic design, which allows three types of GNSS (GPS, BeiDou and Galileo) and offers dual-frequency positioning up to the centimeter level. By activating an RTK network[5] or setting up a D-RTK 2 mobile station,[6] users can achieve high-precision positioning without mounting any additional modules.

Learn more about RTK Network and RTK Base Station

RTK custom network

Use the custom RTK network directly in areas covered by RTK. Simply enable internet access on DJI RC Plus and connect to an NTRIP server to allow Inspire 3 to receive comprehensive data for fast and accurate positioning.

RTK Base Station

In environments without RTK network coverage, the RTK function can be used by configuring a D-RTK 2 mobile station. The Inspire 3 can then receive complete data from the mobile station for precise positioning.

  • Dual antenna orientation

Both the front and rear of the Inspire 3 have an integrated stacked ceramic antenna, which provides powerful magnetic anti-interference capability to further improve flight accuracy and safety.

  • Waypoint Pro

Designed especially for aerial cinematography, Waypoint Pro allows flight path and shot planning with a wide range of custom settings. With new repeatable routes and 3D Dolly modes, an innovative automated shooting experience can be easily achieved. In addition, centimeter RTK positioning ensures more accurate flight path planning and execution. Whether shooting alone or on a professional computer, use Waypoint Pro to master even the most complex scenes.

  • Repeatable routes

Using repeatable routes, the aircraft will automatically fly on the same route and maintain all preset parameters such as altitude, speed, gimbal angle and camera settings. Repeating the same flight mission allows cinematographers to effortlessly take difficult one-off shots or fly at different times in the same location to easily create long-lasting time lapses that capture transitions such as day to night or season to season.

  • Dolly 3D

3D Dolly can simulate a crane, cable camera or rolling platform on film sets and goes far beyond the limitations of those devices.

After planning a flight path, the cinematographer can manually control the aircraft to move along the route back and forth while adjusting parameters such as speed, gimbal angle, and more based on the needs of the shot. This makes complicated cinema-quality camera movements easier and more efficient and can deliver enhanced visual effects.

  • Professional light

Updated since Inspire 2, Spotlight Pro allows solo creators more shot possibilities. Based on powerful machine learning algorithms, Inspire 3 supports automatic subject recognition and blocking of people, vehicles, and vessels more accurately than its predecessor.

When using Spotlight Pro's tracking mode, the aircraft and gimbal camera are oriented in the same direction and remain fixed on the subject so the pilot can get circular shots without manual framing adjustments.

  1. Tracking Mode
  2. Free mode

In Free mode, thanks to the Inspire 3's 360° gimbal panorama, the gimbal camera can remain locked on a subject, while a pilot only uses the FPV camera to check their surroundings and control the flight path more responsively to achieve complex camera movements more easily.

  • Omnidirectional detection system

Inspire 3 is equipped with nine visual sensors, enabling a robust omnidirectional sensing system that can detect obstacles in all directions and provide comprehensive protection for flying. [7]

For the first time, a fisheye camera has been added to each of the four landing arms. This design helps prevent fuselage obstruction when the landing gear is lifted and allows for the detection of horizontal obstacles when the landing gear is lowered.

  1. 360° horizontal visual sensors
  2. Visual sensors upwards
  3. Visual sensors down
  4. ToF sensor down
  • Customizable obstacle detection

In addition, Inspire 3 introduces a new customizable feature to help ensure greater flight safety and greater creative freedom. Horizontal, up, and down obstacle detection can be enabled or disabled independently, and an obstacle alert range can be manually configured to suit different scenarios. [8]

When active avoidance is disabled, users can still see the distance from an obstacle on the real-time navigation screen and receive an audio alert when an obstacle is within a set range without the aircraft performing an automatic avoidance movement. This opens up new possibilities for professional aerial crews who want to achieve a more complex camera language.

  • Ultra-wide night vision FPV camera

Inspire 3 is equipped with a new 1/1.8-inch sensor FPV camera with a pixel size of 3μm, an ultra-wide 161° DFOV and the ability to stream live streams up to 1080p/60fps. Compared to its predecessor, the DFOV is roughly doubled. This FPV camera offers a more impressive light detection capability, allowing pilots to observe their surroundings vividly and clearly, even at night, and ensuring higher levels of flight safety.
