The JVC GY-HC550UN Connected Cam 4K NDI-capable professional camcorder is an updated, NDI-enabled model with the same features as the original GY-HC550U UHD 4K camcorder. It captures video at NTSC and PAL-compatible frame rates and is designed to work seamlessly with traditional workflows as well as NDI and IP workflows. On the camera are a variety of valuable broadcast-related features, such as a transmission overlay, GPS metadata, and MPEG-2 encoding in HD for easy interfacing with legacy broadcast systems. The camera also features a built-in wireless LAN and the Zixi wireless protocol.

The GY-HC550UN features a 1" CMOS sensor and a built-in 20x optical zoom lens, while the camera can create a 40x digital zoom . The camera can capture in UHD, HD, and SD, and can record SD as a proxy, recording up to 30p on the built-in media card slots or 60/50p on an optional SSD. The camera supports HDR recording in HLG or JLog1 (10-bit).

The camera captures UHD in various types of ProRes, as well as MP4, and is capable of recording HD in MPEG-2 and transmitting HD over IP over a wired connection. The integrated zoom 20x lens features three manual control rings for iris, focus and zoom. The EVF features LCOS technology and over 1.2 million dots of resolution, while the built-in foldable LCD viewfinder is just under 4" diagonally. The camera features IFB and video return over IP, as well as automatic FTP, so your video files are transferred automatically. It has two SDHC/SDXC card slots and features a slot for an optional M.2 SSD (requires an optional media adapter) for UHD capture at 60/50p.

Differences with the GY-HC550 JVC *

This GY-HC550E-based camera features graphics insertion for sporting events.

The graphics have been adapted to offer score scores in different sports and operate them from a smartphone or tablet.

The purpose of this equipment is to make the streaming of sporting events more attractive and more visual with a single camera, where due to budget limitations it is not possible to have a subsequent production infrastructure (several operators, PC with graphic generator, mixer for insertion, etc.).

The camera brings different scoreboard templates to cover different sports like football, basketball, volleyball, baseball, hockey.

In addition to the basic pre-configured templates, it allows you to create other templates and scoreboards according to the need of the sport to be broadcast.

Apart from the scoreboard, up to 50 slides can be embedded in the image in full screen or in the lower third of the image, ideal for advertising sponsors, presenting teams, line-ups, individual players, etc.

Control of inserts and marker score changes is in the operator's hands from their mobile phone or tablet.

When the graphics function is selected, the camera can record in HD and at the same time stream in HD, inserting graphics into both videos or just the stream.

Note: for all types of USB adapters: Connecting to a network will be via the camera's host USB port (on the right back side of the camera). Select the device you are going to use: WIFI dongle, a 3G/4G LTE dongle or an Ethernet adapter (RJ45). The adapter you are using must be a registered adapter (see the attached compatible list), as each adapter needs drivers implemented in the camera to work. For LTE adapters, these devices must first be preset on your local PC.
