The XF23mmF1.4 is a next-generation fixed lens, designed with a view to supporting future camera sensors with even higher resolution and setting the new benchmark for XF lenses for the highest level of image resolution capability. With a very versatile wide focal length of 23mm (equivalent to 35mm in the 35mm film format), the lens boasts uncompromising optical performance to deliver incredible sharpness even when fully open in F1.4. It controls camera movement and digital noise in low-light conditions, giving users flexibility over when to shoot. Its shallow depth of field makes the background out of focus for creamy bokeh, adding three-dimensional definitions to the main subject. The use of nine aperture blades ensures an almost round-shaped bokeh effect even around the maximum aperture.

 Along with advanced close-up capability, the lens adapts to a wide range of shooting situations.

The new XF23mmF1.4 features fast, high-precision AF in a compact, lightweight, and rugged construction to take advantage of fully revised optical performance in still images, video, and all shooting situations. The use of a linear motor means that the AF system is quietly operated to achieve high-precision focusing in as little as 0.04 seconds, capturing a decisive photographic opportunity in all conditions. *1 The lens is easy to handle despite being a large aperture lens, weighs approximately 375g and measures 77.8mm long with a filter thread size of 58mm. 2.Product characteristics

(1) Next-gen resolution performance with edge-to-edge sharpness when fully open in F1.4

・ The lens consists of 15 lens elements, including two aspherical elements and three ED elements, in 10 groups to effectively minimize chromatic aberration and spherical aberration, providing edge-to-edge sharpness even when fully open. The focus group in the middle controls aspherical aberration and chromatic aberration. A two-element lens group that includes an aspherical lens at the far end reduces the fluctuation of aberration caused by the movements of the focusing elements, ensuring superior image quality over the entire focus range from foreground to infinity.

・ With a maximum aperture of F1.4, the lens allows users to produce high-quality images with minimal camera movement and digital noise, even in low-light conditions, such as low-light interiors and nightscapes. In F1.4, the lens provides a low depth of field to render the background out of focus for creamy bokeh, adding clear contrast and three-dimensional definitions to sharply focus the main subject in the focal plane. Comatic aberration is also well controlled to capture small light sources such as round dots, avoiding shades of color in the background in bokeh.
