In recent years, each new professional cinema camera has turned out to be incredibly smaller and more powerful than the last, so the birth of Simera-C is Thypoch 's answer to deliver cinema lenses to match these advances. These small, bright lenses have been widely anticipated in the market and represent an ideal choice for filmmakers working with Sony and DJI Ronin 4D thanks to their excellent optics and extremely compact design.

Aesthetic philosophy of Simera-C lenses: modest and emphasizing authenticity

Inspired by the design of some classic rangefinder lenses, the optical formula of Simera-C lenses is infused with cinematic DNA by experienced DZOFILM designers. Its appearance is balanced between the realistic style of still photography and the smoothness of cinema. These lenses prevent chromatic aberration and offer excellent sharpness without being too sharp. They bring a touch of softness inherited from the character of classic cinema lenses, which can be seen in their refined bokeh and edge drop, providing a very evident dimensional feel to the narrative.

The philosophy of Simera-C objectives is to be modest in order to allow more space for the narrative. Hence, they offer a naturalistic, almost crude appearance, without imposing a strong character and thus guarantee an authentic reproduction. After repeated simulations and experiments, the flare has been subtly controlled as an important element of the lens, to shape the highlights without disturbing the image.

The new Simera-C 21mm T1.5 maintains consistency with the series, offering a very dramatic ultra-wide-angle perspective, being the widest lens in the whole set. It's great for shooting close-ups with a smooth transition that separates the subject from the background.

Seamless integration with the Simera-C line

The Simera-C 21mm lens shares the same key technical features as its predecessors: the 28mm, 35mm, 50mm and 75mm Simera-C. These include:

1) 16 aperture blades for smooth, rounded bokeh

2) 210° focus ring rotation

3) 67mm front diameter (excluding 75mm T1.5 from 72mm) and filter size M62*0.75 (excluding 75mm from M67*0.75)

4) Dual focus scales (metric and imperial)

Close Focus and Amazing Optical Performance

With a minimum focusing distance of just 0.23 meters, the 21mm is the closest focus lens in the Simera-C series, allowing users to capture intricate details with complete clarity.

With 2 aspherical elements, 3 low-dispersion elements, and 3 high-refractive index elements, the Simera-C 21mm effectively minimizes common issues such as flare and chromatic aberration, while ensuring excellent resolution from center to edge, without over-sharpening, but rendering good skin texture at portrait distance.

Compact and versatile design

With a length of just 78.6mm and a weight of 491g, the Simera-C 21mm blends seamlessly with setups such as the DJI Ronin 4D, allowing for flexible use in aerial shots, action scenes, car shoots and also in tight interiors.
