Zhiyun Molus G300: up to 500 watts of power in a spotlight only 8.4 centimeters thick

With a Bowens mount and a separate driver, the successor to the Molus G200 offers professional-grade lighting in an ultra-compact body

Zhiyun has taken its philosophy of creating compact and powerful lights to a new level. This small two-tone spotlight with COB chip goes beyond the 200 watts provided by the Molus G200 (expandable to 300) to offer a base power of 300 watts that can reach 500 with the MAX Extreme mode activated.

All this in a 2.7 kilo device that has a thickness of only 8.4 centimeters and a width and height of 14.8 and 25.9 centimeters, respectively. Measurements that make up a COB type LED light whose size is a third of that of other models in the same category.

This combination of high performance and small size is due, as in the rest of the Asian brand's range of lighting products, to the use of the exclusive DynaVort Cooling System cooling technology, in this case in its MK 2 version.

Thus, the Molus G300 provides a peak light intensity of up to 15,500 lux operating at 300 watts (measured at 5,500 degrees Kelvin, without parabola and one meter away) that can be scaled to a maximum of 20,300 lux (at 4,300 degrees Kelvin) with the Extreme MAX mode. In terms of accuracy and light quality, it offers a CRI value of ≥95, a TLCI of ≥97, and a CQS of ≥94.

Designed for ease of use

Like the Molus G300, the new light features a Bowens mount for the use of Zhiyun modifiers and other brands with a handy quick-release button.

The power port has a robust design with an aircraft-grade and error-proof interface so that it can be reliably connected to the standalone controller, which features the two brightness and color temperature control dials and a larger panel compared to that of the Molus G200.

As usual in the Zhiyun light range, the Molus G300 can also be operated wirelessly via the ZY Vega app, both individually and together with other spotlights.

The handle to control the tilt of the spotlight is now more forceful than on the Molus G200, and a top carrying handle has also been added to the design. The power cables, on the other hand, are noticeably longer, with lengths of 3 and 4.5 meters.

The Mark II version of Zhiyun 's DynaVort Cooling System technology allows the Molus G300 to run quietly while keeping heat at bay.

With a slim and robust design, this powerful and compact COB light weighs just 1.56 kilos and is extremely versatile thanks to its 180-degree directional adjustment, allowing filmmakers to create lighting schemes efficiently.

Its control unit separate from the spotlight allows you to control the colour temperature and light output up to an intensity of 15,500 lux (measured at one meter and without a parabola) and up to 20,300 lux when used in MAX Extreme mode.
