Features of the FUJI 56mm f1.2 II R WR Lens
The FUJI 56mm f1.2 II R WR Lens is a fast medium telephoto lens with a focal length of 56mm (equivalent to 85mm in 35mm film format). It succeeds the F1.2 maximum aperture, a popular feature of its predecessor "FUJINON XF56mmF1.2 R Lens" (previous model), while boasting a significant improvement in image resolution performance and close-up capability. The fast lens produces beautiful bokeh that adds dimension to visual expressions.
The Fujifilm 56mm f1.2 R II WR consists of 13 elements in eight groups, including two aspherical elements and one ED element. The design minimizes chromatic, spherical and chromatic aberrations to provide higher image resolution performance than the previous model from minimum object distance (MOD) to infinity. Its F1.2 maximum aperture produces a shallow depth of field to add an artistic touch to images. The surface of the aspherical lens elements is processed with high precision to reduce the onion ring effect and achieve a beautiful bokeh effect. The minimum focusing distance has been reduced by approx. 20cm from the previous model to approx. 50cm*1, allowing users to get closer to the subject in portraits, snapshots and desktop photography.
The addition of the XF56mmF1.2 R WR further enhances the XF lens lineup, expanding the coverage of photographic categories to enhance users' photographic enjoyment provided by the X Series of mirrorless cameras equipped with the APS-C sensor.
*1 Distance from the sensor surface to the subject. The minimum distance from the front end of the lens is approximately 41 cm.
(1) Excellent image resolution performance and beautiful bokeh
- The lens design, consisting of 13 elements in eight groups, including two aspherical elements and one ED element, suppresses various types of aberration, including chromatic aberration and spherical aberration, for edge-to-edge image sharpness and creamy bokeh that blurs smoothly from the focal plane into the background.
- The focusing group contains a total of eight elements, including three high-refraction elements, which are commonly used in film camera lenses, to suppress aberration fluctuation and maintain image quality superior from MOD to infinity.
- This is the first Fujifilm lens for mirrorless digital cameras to use 11 diaphragm blades to achieve a near-perfect circle at aperture, better than the previous model. The aspherical elements are produced with a metal mold processed with advanced precision to hundred-thousandths of a millimeter to suppress the onion-ring effect in bokeh, demonstrating Fujifilm's commitment to creating beautiful bokeh.

(2) Medium telephoto lens with enhanced close-up capability to suit a wider variety of photographic situations
- The new lens, with a 56mm medium telephoto focal length (equivalent to 85mm in 35mm format) and maximum aperture of F1.2, is a perfect choice for portraits to clearly separate the subject from its background.
- The minimum focusing distance has been reduced to just 50 cm, about 20 cm less than the previous model. The reduced distance restriction in relation to the subject allows users to enjoy a wider variety of photographic situations, such as desktop and snapshots.
(3) AF function driven by an evolved DC motor for fast and accurate autofocusing
- The lens uses a DC motor, suitable for driving large elements. It can precisely control the focusing group, which consists of eight elements and an aperture unit, to automatically focus on the subject quickly and accurately. Advanced autofocus capability ensures capturing decisive photographic opportunities even when shooting with shallow depth of field.
- The use of a bearing mechanism has successfully reduced the friction arising when the DC motor is driving the lens elements, effectively reducing motor noise.
(4) Adoption of dust and weather resistance and ability to operate at -10 ℃ to improve practical usability
- The lens is designed to take full advantage of the compact and lightweight "X-Mount System "*2 , weighing only 445 g and measuring 76 mm despite being a fast lens with a maximum aperture of F1.2. It reduces users' stress when walking around with the lens mounted on a camera, adding an extra sense of mobility.
- The lens cylinder is weather-sealed in nine places to ensure dust and weather resistance, and recently adopts the ability to operate at temperatures as low as -10 ℃. The front lens element is applied with flu.
