With a limitless design approach, SIGMA 105mm f1.4 DG HSM Art Lens is distinguished by its brilliant maximum aperture and advanced optical design. The fast f/1.4 design greatly benefits working in low-light conditions and also allows extensive depth of field control to isolate subjects and work with selective focus. As part of the Art line of lenses, this lens is also designed for high-resolution rendering, and uses FLD and SLD glass to control chromatic aberrations and color stripes for remarkable clarity. A Super Multi-Layer also improves image quality by suppressing lens flare and ghosting to improve contrast and color fidelity in bright light conditions. In addition, a rounded nine-leaf diaphragm contributes to a pleasant bokeh quality.
Complementing the imaging capabilities, the lens has a Hyper Sonic Motor to produce fast, smooth, and quiet autofocus with full-time manual focus override. The physical design uses thermally stable composite material for durability in a wide range of environments, and a brass bayonet mount also offers rigidity and mounting accuracy. For working on top of a tripod, a removable tripod collar is also included and features an Ark-compatible foot for wide mounting compatibility.
