Become Powerful Streaming Play with DaVinci resolve

Introducing a new generation of live-action replay! Blackmagic Replay is totally unique in that it uses multiple HyperDecks to record to a shared storage, while DaVinci Resolve is connected to the same shared storage as a powerful playback engine. This means you can add additional recording channels by connecting more HyperDeck recorders. However, the real power comes from DaVinci Resolve taking care of the playback. That's because it's not just a playback, but an extremely powerful editor with multi-user collaboration features. Plus color correction, visual effects, and audio post-production! Now you can turn replays into promos, title sequences, and instant social media updates!

Let Repetition Create A Social Media Revolution

Now you don't need to scrap a replay after it airs! This is because you can turn the replay into an editing timeline to post on social media. Blackmagic Replay is more powerful than a traditional playback system because it's built into DaVinci Resolve. This means you can upload interesting camera angles to the timeline for editing, color correction, and adding visual effects. These edits can be posted to social media in seconds. With Blackmagic Cloud, you can have more than one DaVinci Resolve system working at work. Imagine that every replay of a sporting event is transformed into a social media post. By creating instant social media posts, you can attract a new audience on a massive global scale!

Get started in a few simple steps

DaVinci Resolve lets you play in a few simple steps. It can be as simple as looking at the input view in the viewer and then pressing the POI button when an interesting event occurs. Pressing the POI button, or point of interest, will take you from the input view to media playback, where you can see the different camera angles you have in a multi-view. Now just back up a bit, select a camera, and you're ready to play by pressing the Run button. As you play, you can review other angles in multi-view and play that angle on-air using program sequencing. When the replay is over, press the dump button and the replay will load on the timeline. Now you can add titles and then post them on social media.

Find & Play Video

Select the input view. Check the POI when something happens. DaVinci Resolve will switch to the playback medium and prompt you to the POI, then you can review and select a camera. Now press run to start the replay.

Sequential Shots

Once running, the multi-view allows you to review other camera angles. Select a new shot by pressing a time key and a camera key. Playback will move seconds before the POI and play the new angle.

Upload to Social Media

The time between execution and dump is the replay and can be automatically added to the timeline. If you used transitions and velocity changes in your repeat, they'll load on the timeline as well!

Build the Habit

The replay system you need

Building a high-end playback system is easy as it's storage-centric, where multiple HyperDecks record and DaVinci Resolve handles playback. That allows you to customize as many channels as you need. Simply add additional HyperDeck recorders! That means you can create a playback system in HD, Ultra HD, or even 8K. Then add more storage when you need extra space and higher speed. In addition, you can add more than one DaVinci Resolve system, and they will collaborate globally using shared Blackmagic Cloud projects. Everything you do on one system will be automatically updated on the others. In addition, ATEM switches with built-in ISO recording functions can also be used for easy replays, because all the hardware is integrated

UnlimitedRecord Channels

Add multiple HyperDeck recorders to a Cloud Store Mini or Max Blackmagic to record as many channels as you need. Set up recording in numbered ISO folders within a master folder for the job.

UnlimitedStorage

Blackmagic Cloud Store Max has been designed for playback because it's fast and has a large capacity. Thus, it easily handles multiple recording channels. You can add a second store when you need more speed.

UnlimitedPlay Stations

DaVinci Resolve is connected to storage to handle playback. You can play all camera angles in a multi-view and then select shots to playback. For large jobs, add a second DaVinci Resolve for playback.

The Repeat Palettefor Repeat Control

Playback controls are accessed via the playback palette above the viewfinder; in addition, there are also dedicated buttons on the DaVinci Resolve playback panel. The input button is good for playing editing timelines, as it will indicate the start. The Run button will start playback and switch the video output to the selected camera while the viewer will switch to a multi-view so they can review the next shot. In addition, it will open the output of the hardware key to allow playback on the switch. It will also run the automatic stinger if enabled. Dump stops playback, reverts the hardware output to a multi-view, and runs the auto stinger if enabled. It also adds the replay to the timeline if add to timeline is enabled.

Organize your custom camera views

Since playback is built into DaVinci Resolve, you can arrange the specific views you want to play by simply uploading them to the container. For example, if you want to record 8 cameras but only play 4 cameras, then you just need to load those 4 cameras into the trash. Different users can load different cameras and make custom playbacks for each workstation. This means that more than one DaVinci Resolve can be used for replays. DaVinci Resolve creates its multi-view based on the media loaded in the trash; However, with shared projects, you can create different folders in the same project with different cameras loaded. Then navigate to that folder before selecting multiple fonts.

Load HyperDeck Files Even While Recording

To start working with playback, simply load the HyperDeck recordings into the trash. One of the reasons DaVinci Resolve can be used for playback is that you can edit media files even while those files are still being burned to the disc. The viewer will automatically advance as files grow in length, so you can scroll forward and get to the latest media being recorded. It updates quickly, and you can access the recorded media less than a second ago. The 'Go to End button' allows you to see the most recent action. Then you can scroll and play around to see your angles. There are even recording indicators on the clips in the trash to show that they are still being recorded. There are also log indicators in the multiple views!

Watch & Play All Your Cameras at Once

Multi-Source is where DaVinci Resolve automatically aligns all time-matching recordings and displays them in a multi-view. This allows you to visually explore your media and see all the angles matched in time. Because all clips are recorded in HyperDecks at the same time, you'll see all events aligned in time. The best way to align recordings is to connect all HyperDecks to a mixer so they get the same timecode. Now you can see all your angles and you can select different cameras to view in full screen. You can also add and insert edits from the multi-source. This means you can create edits quickly, all while playing!

Watch Live Log in and wait for the action

Most of the time you want to watch the action and wait for an exciting event to happen so you can set it up for replay. If you are connected to hardware Blackmagic Desktop Video, selecting the input view will display a live view of the SDI or HDMI input in the DaVinci Resolve viewer. This gives you a latency-free live view. A good input is a multi-view output from an ATEM switch. In addition, the input view will take a snapshot of the video's input timecode when setting the point of interest. Once you set up the POI, the viewer will switch to multi-source media and head to the POI point as you enter from storage. It's almost instantaneous! Now you're ready to scroll through the media, select a camera, and start the replay.

Mark an event with the Point of Interest

The point of interest or POI is a very important feature that makes repetition possible. The POI is like a time-based marker and appears on any clip, timeline point, or container icon when it matches the date and time of the POI. It's not a marker because it's time-based and not connected to any particular clip or timeline. With a POI set up, DaVinci can pre-rewind to play a new camera angle because it knows where an event occurred in time. You can also use the POI to edit using the time and camera keys. Edits using POI will appear on the timeline centered on the POI time. Then you don't need entry and exit points. There is also a POI indicator that shows the travel distance from the POI.

Play multiple clips in a single replay

Shot sequencing allows you to play back multiple camera angles during the same replay. It allows the unique DaVinci Resolve system to handle complex repetitions. When you play the first camera angle on air using the Run button, the view changes to a multi-view, even if the video output is the selected camera. This allows you to review all the angles while playing with the first camera and look for the next angle to use. This means that you only need to do the first on-air shot quickly. You can check the other angles while playing the first one. Then press a time key and a second camera button and playback will go back to that number of timed seconds before the POI and continue playing. Even with transitions! Everyone lives!

Apply SpeedPlayback Changes

An important part of replay is slowing down the action so viewers can see what happened in detail. DaVinci Resolve's playback panel has a dedicated fader control that can be used to slow down the playback speed. It will slow down all playback, even when not playing on air, so there's a speed activation button to prevent you from accidentally applying a speed change. The speed change is great when sequencing shots because it will keep the same playback speed when you switch cameras. Velocity changes will also be added to replays that are added to the timeline. This means that your social media post will also receive the speed changes! DaVinci Resolve Studio also has AI processing for optical flow in super slow motion!

Built-in automationFor Auto Stingers!

Powerful bookmarks for logging and editing

Markers are better in DaVinci Resolve 19 and can be used to record events when you edit playback media later. Markers are very different from points of interest, as you can have multiple markers and they are attached directly to clips or the timeline. Bookmarks are also remembered in the project when they are saved or shared. You can select custom colors for the bookmarks and also add titles and notes for each bookmark. With bookmarks, it's like having metadata tags on your clips and timeline so you can find shots. In addition, there is a dedicated key for adding bookmarks in DaVinci Resolve Replay Editor so you can add bookmarks as many times as you want. In addition, bookmarks can be exported to video files to set up chapters on YouTube.

Add iterations to Timelines for post-production

Selecting Add to Timeline will automatically add the entire replay to the timeline. Replays are added to the end of clips that are already in the timeline or create new timelines for each replay. This means that each replay can be turned into a separate social media post. Everything you did during the replay is remembered and added to the timeline, including transitions and speed changes. If you have a shared project, other editors can get these timelines and add color corrections and titles. This means that your replay system can be integrated into a global post-production network! Someone in another country might even prepare your titles and they would automatically reappear in the replay system!

Post replays to a global social media audience

Even sports that have less local appeal can have a massive audience if they can attract viewers from all over the world. The key to this is to post replays as social media content. The replay system is better for this because it has the best camera views! Plus, you get multiple angles with transitions and even speed changes. Then, you could add a graphic, a sponsor's logo, and even a scorecard at the end to create a professional social media post. Every social media post can be sold to advertisers to help fund the production! It's so fast that you can post every few minutes. By posting only the highlights, you'll have fans waiting for the next social media update! That's a true global viewer connection!

Build a Great Collaboration Post-Production Teams

With built-in playback in DaVinci Resolve, you get access to a post-production network that includes some of the world's most talented editors, colorists, visual effects artists, and audio engineers. This adds a level of creativity to the repetition never seen before. Publishers can create promotional videos and documentaries directly from the playback media. Then add professional color correction. VFX artists can then use the Fusion tools for exciting transitions or even track graphics and all sorts of futuristic designs. In addition, each person in the post-production network can collaborate using Blackmagic Cloud. Since most Hollywood movies use DaVinci Resolve, you have the tools to do anything you can imagine!

Start playback without a panel

DaVinci Resolve allows you to perform basic playbacks using the software's user interface! The playback palette above the viewfinder has plenty of controls for playback directly from DaVinci! The superior right of the playback palette also has the input button so you can change the viewer to monitor video input from the connected hardware. There is an Add POI button located at the bottom left of the viewer which, when selected, will take a snapshot of the timecode of the video input and transfer it to that point in time on the source media. You can now scroll to your camera, click on the camera view you want, and hit the Run and Dump buttons to play. The repeat palette also has the option to add to the timeline!

LiveContribution

The video input button switches the viewer to a direct input from the video hardware, such as a multi-view switcher. This means you can add a low-latency view of your cameras, ready to mark the POI for playback.

Multi-Source Viewer

If you enable the multi-source button, your viewfinder will show you all of your time-aligned cameras in a multi-view. Simply click on a view to select a camera! Or press ESC to select all cameras.

CustomizeTrash

DaVinci Resolve will display only the media you upload to the trash. This means you can upload as many camera ISO folders as you need. Or move folder paths up and down to see more or fewer cameras.

Edit Live Recordings

Playback clips are recorded live, so DaVinci Resolve handles files that are constantly growing in length. You can see recording indicators in bin clips, and the viewer's media automatically increases in length!

Snapshot THEN

To mark an event, press the Add POI button or the space bar when the input view is selected. This will set the POI time from the video input timecode, then switch to the source view and display the POI.

THEN Distance

It's normal to step back before the point of interest so you can show the viewer what happened before an event. The POI distance indicator will show you how far you've traveled in seconds.

Add Auto Stinger

Before you start a replay, you can select to enable an automatic stinger. This automatically generates a sting when starting or stopping a replay. You can also select different stingers with the title keys.

Convert Play for Edit

Selecting add to timeline allows you to add a repeat to the timeline as an edit. It's automatic and when enabled it will add the clips after the replay is over. You can add or use a new timeline.

Run to Start Replay

The Run button starts the replay. It will play from the current position. It can also trigger an automatic stinger. The viewfinder will switch to a multi-view so you can review the next shot.

Switch Between Cameras

You can click on the camera views to switch from one camera to another when playing on air. Then, the selected camera will output to the video output. It's like a live video switcher built into the viewer.

Shooting Sequence

If you press one of the number keys on your keyboard and click on a camera view while playing, DaVinci Resolve will rewind playback to the number of seconds before the POI and switch to the selected camera.

Stop Repeat

The Dump button stops playback and then adds the shots to the timeline if selected. Also, you can run the auto stinger. It's smart, so it'll wait a bit if you've just sequenced a new shot.

Add a DaVinci ResolutionReplay Editor

DaVinci Resolve Replay Editor is a hardware control panel that combines features for both playback and multi-camera editing. Its affordable design has the same high-quality keys that gaming keyboards use, making it reliable and enjoyable to use. With functions for both playback and editing, it means that the same operator can work on replays while loading them into the timeline with keyboard editing functions. This makes it incredibly quick to use. In addition, the buttons have been spaced out so that you can locate them by touch. Even the adjustment keys work with the large search dial for speed and accuracy. The panel can be connected via USB or Bluetooth and the large internal battery lasts for hours.
