CANON EOS C100

Versatile, compact storytelling

An affordable video production camera that offers a unique combination of professional HD imaging, compact design and lens versatility, the C100 is very easy to use and ideally configured for single-person use.

Maximum sharpness: the EOS C100 becomes the first camcorder to incorporate Dual Pixel CMOS AF autofocus technology

This major enhancement to its professional EOS C100 camcorder now incorporates Dual Pixel CMOS AF (DAF) technology. Incorporated for the first time in the EOS 70D digital SLR camera, Dual Pixel CMOS AF is an innovative technology developed by CANON that expands shooting possibilities with fast, continuous autofocus and advanced performance in large-sensor camcorders. The EOS C100 is the first camcorder to incorporate this new technology, which means even greater creative flexibility in all types of shooting.

Detailed Features

8.3 MP Super 35 mm CMOS sensor; Full HD

An 8.3 MP Super 35 mm CMOS sensor, designed and manufactured by CANON specifically for video capture, provides 3-channel RGB processing for Full HD video recording. It delivers excellent high-resolution images with high sensitivity and low noise; features that minimize the effects of rolling shutter and provide a beautifully shallow depth of field.

High sensitivity, low noise

Images with enhanced sensitivity and low noise can be captured at speeds up to 20,000 ISO, enabling use in almost any shooting situation.

24 Mbps MPEG-4 AVCHD on SD cards

24 Mbps (4:2:0) MPEG-4 AVCHD/H.264 recording files on two SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards (with uninterrupted and simultaneous recording options). Output options include HDMI with lock function, AV and USB.

CANON Log Gamma

The built-in CANON Log Gamma option offers neutral image quality with 12 steps of latitude (800% dynamic range) and a base setting of 850 ISO. The Wide Dynamic Range option offers recording with the same wide latitude and requires no grading.

Interchangeable EF lenses

Expand your creative options thanks to a huge range of interchangeable lenses. The EF mount is compatible with EF 4K cine lenses from CANON and over 60 EF lenses including Macro and Fisheye. 3 built-in manual ND filters increase shooting versatility.

Compact, modular and lightweight

Ultra-compact and lightweight, the EOS C100 is ideal for use in tight spaces. The basic recording configuration weighs only 1,020 g (without lens), while the detachable grip, handle and multi-angle control panel ensure maximum maneuverability. The rugged, splash-resistant body made of magnesium alloy components provides additional rigidity and strength.

Automated triggering

For ease of use by a single person, automated functions include One Shot AF, Forced Auto Iris and Auto White Balance. Full Manual Control is available when needed, with a powerful Focus Assist function to facilitate manual focusing and ensure sharp, detailed images.

Professional Audio

Professional audio recording options include LPCM or Dolby AC3. The superior handle includes two XLR and stereo microphone inputs.

Seamless workflow integration

Extensive NLE support allows easy integration into existing post-production workflows.

CPS compatibility

The EOS C100 qualifies for free support from CANON Professional Services (CPS) with exclusive access to a range of benefits: CPS support at major events, priority repair service (subject to availability) and local CPS support in selected European countries.

Enhanced features
Dual Pixel CMOS AF is a sensor-based, phase-detection Auto Focus (AF) technology that has been designed to support video recording. To this end, a compatible CMOS sensor was incorporated into the original design of the EOS C100. Thanks to new technical developments following its launch, the camcorder can now be enhanced to offer users greater functionality and additional added value.

Although the EOS C100's sensor-based Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology is similar to that of the EOS 70D digital SLR CANON, it has been adapted to match the performance and capabilities of the EOS C100. The technology has been specially optimized for video recording and provides fast, natural focusing in a familiar visual style. So capturing a subject and keeping it in focus, even if it moves, is easier than ever.

Kieran Magee, Professional Marketing Manager, CANON Europe, commented: "We are dedicated to developing innovative imaging products that also deliver great value for users. We are very proud of our existing Cinema EOS System, and we are constantly listening to our customers' suggestions for ways to improve our products, so that they can push their own creative boundaries. This upgrade, which sees the addition of Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology to the EOS C100, is a further demonstration of our commitment in this regard."

Availability
This upgrade, which uses the EOS C100's existing Super 35mm sensor, will be available from the Regional Competence Centre (RCC) network from Q1 2014 and will be subject to a charge
