The NIKON GP-1 GPS Unit allows you to "geolocate" images with valuable information such as latitude, longitude, altitude and time information. For those on the road, such as outdoor photographers, nature shooters, climbers, sports lovers, news dogs, surveillance people, real estate agents, and many more, this article offers a valuable way to accurately document when and where you shot a particular photo.
NIKON sells the NIGP1 as a geotagging device. It comes with a 10-pin connector to transmit the data to the D200, 300, 300, 700, D2, D3 and D800/D800E. However, when using this, the camera's 10-pin connector is busy and does not allow the use of an MC30 or MC36 NIKON remote control cable. However, this problem is easily solved. The remote cable NIKON for the D90, the NIMCDC2, can be connected to a second port on the NIGP1 allowing you to take photos without touching the camera.
Notice compatible models: D90, D5000, D3200, D5100 (via GP1-CA90 terminal accessory cable), D3, D3S, D3X, D4, D700, D300, D300S, D2X, D2XS, D2HS, D200, D800 and / D800E (via 10-pin GP1-CA10 remote terminal cable). Some models may require an update to the latest firmware version
