The DMC-GM5 incorporates the latest advances in beauty and functional design. It includes a Live MOS digital sensor based on the Micro Four Thirds system standard. Despite its high performance, the Lumix GM5 features an extremely compact design. Every external component is designed with a high level of detail and draws sleek, attractive lines. It offers a richer experience than most compact cameras.

It features a 16-megapixel Digital Live MOS sensor and the Venus Engine image processor for high-resolution images and 1080p Full HD video at 60 fps. The camera features a high-resolution electronic viewfinder for the GM series, enabling confident shot composition in a variety of environments. An integrated hot shoe is provided for use of the included external flash unit as well as other optional flashes. Built-in wireless capabilities allow the GM5 to be controlled remotely from a linked mobile device and also supports image transfer to devices using the PANASONIC Image App. A wide range of focusing technologies are implemented in the camera to ensure fast and accurate focusing. The Intelligent Contrast AF system exchanges signals between the camera and lens at up to 240 fps (with compatible lenses); especially useful when using the camera's high-speed burst shooting at 5.8 fps at full 16MP resolution, and up to 40 fps with the electronic shutter. You'll also find convenient focused technologies such as Face/Eye Detection AF, Low Light AF for focusing in low light (-4 EV) conditions, and Focus Peaking when focusing manually. Included with the GM5 is the versatile LUMIX G VARIO 12 -32mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. MEGA OIS; a standard zoom that provides a 35mm equivalent focal length range of 24-64mm. Its retractable design articulates with the camera's small form factor and the inclusion of MEGA OIS image stabilization benefits that work with longer shutter speeds and in low light conditions



16MP Live MOS Sensor and Venus Engine
A 16-megapixel Micro Four Thirds Digital Live MOS Sensor and Venus Engine image processor work together to produce high-resolution images that show a wealth of clarity, detail and overall impressive image quality. The processing power provides increased sensitivity to ISO 25600, with minimal noise for better use in low light conditions, as well as support for Full HD 1080p video recording at 60 fps.
Electronic viewfinder
The 1,166k dot viewfinder allows you to frame and capture shots even in bright sunlight. Based on the Adobe RGB color space, the viewfinder faithfully reproduces primary colors for more true-to-life tones, allowing the judge to accurately judge the colors of the scene.
Silent mode
When lights and camera noise could be a distraction to an artist or audience, you can activate the silent mode. This mode switches the shutter from mechanical to electronic, turns off all sounds, and disables the autofocus light and flash.
Autofocus Performance
Fast, accurate autofocus
By exchanging digital signals between the camera and lens at up to 240 fps, the intelligent contrast AF system is both fast and accurate. The GM5 also delivers high-speed burst shooting at 5.8 fps at 16 megapixel resolution, and a maximum of 40 fps with the electronic shutter. Eye sensor AF image output between the viewfinder and rear display is automatically triggered by an integrated eye movement sensor. This same sensor also accommodates the Eye AF sensor, which initiates autofocus automatically by simply looking at the LVF, helping to prevent missed shooting opportunities. Low-light AF Thanks to its low-light AF capability, the camera is designed to focus on subjects in -4EV situations, such as shooting outdoors at night. Face/Eye Detection AF In addition to conventional Face AF with recognition, Face/Eye Detection AF automatically adjusts focus precisely on a subject's face or eyes. Pinpoint AF This feature incrementally sets the magnification to 3x 10x in 0.1x steps. This is ideal for focusing on a desired part of your frame, such as a flower or the pupil of an eye.
Focus Peaking
Focus Peaking can be enabled to show highlight around the edges of in-focus, a useful feature when focusing manually in still or video modes. The feature is also available in remote shooting when using a smartphone or tablet via Wi-Fi.
Built-in Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi connectivity allows you to easily share images using the PANASONIC Image App. Simply scanning the QR code displayed on the camera screen with a smartphone or tablet also allows you to use your mobile device as a remote control for the camera. In addition, a new time-lapse function is ideal for sharing slow shutter images such as fireworks and nightscapes. Sharing while browsing also becomes faster, thanks to direct upload capability.
LUMIX G VARIO 12-32mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. MEGA OIS lens
Included with the GM5 is the LUMIX G VARIO 12-32mm f / 3.5-5.6 ASPH. MEGA OIS, which covers a 35mm equivalent focal length of 24-64mm. The retractable design maintains a sleek, compact profile that complements the GM5. Three aspherical elements and an extra-low dispersion element are incorporated into the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations throughout the zoom range while contributing to overall high sharpness. Multi-coated lens elements also benefit image quality through the reduction of lens flare and ghosting for more contrast-rich and color-neutral photos and videos. MEGA OIS image stabilization minimizes the appearance of camera shake to support working in low-light conditions and with longer shutter speeds, while supporting the contrast-detection sensor drive at maximum. 240 fps focusing system enables fast and accurate AF performance.
