16.2-megapixel FX-format (full-frame) CMOS sensor

Equipped with the same image sensor as the flagship D4 from NIKON, the Df delivers images with exquisite detail and smooth tonal gradations.

Iconic design NIKON

With a design inspired by the classic 35mm film cameras of NIKON and the technology of the latest professional DSLR cameras from NIKON, the Df specializes in pure photography.

Full-frame portability

Enjoy the creative excitement of FX-format photography wherever you go thanks to a compact body weighing approx. 710g.

High-sensitivity autofocus with 39-point Multi-CAM 4800 AF system: delivers fast, accurate coverage throughout the frame. Reduces sensitivity down to -1 EV and supports up to f/8. Four AF-area modes, including 3D-tracking AF mode, deliver sharp results whether the subject is off-center, moving fast or acting completely unpredictably. In addition, the contrast-detection AF system boasts enhanced operability, accuracy and speed when shooting in Live View mode.

Elegant mechanical dials: Convenience and control are combined with these knurled mechanical dials that make operation simple and safe. The dials allow you to adjust ISO sensitivity, exposure compensation, exposure mode and shooting mode independently, giving you access to all relevant parameters for capturing still images without having to access the camera's menu.

Compatible with non-AI NIKKOR lenses: a unique folding meter attachment lever allows you to attach even vintage non-AI NIKKOR lenses to the Df from NIKON. When shooting with a non-AI lens in A (Aperture Priority) or M (Manual) mode, it is possible to meter with the aperture fully open (equivalent to AI lenses) via a simple in-camera setting.

High-performance optical viewfinder: The glass pentaprism viewfinder offers approx. 100% frame coverage and 0.7x magnification, as well as DX crop mode with viewfinder markings.

The renowned NIKON design: designed to withstand the harshest conditions, the camera features durable, lightweight magnesium alloy on the superior, bottom and rear caps, and the camera is hermetically sealed in the same manner as the D800 DSLR from NIKON for enhanced resistance to moisture and dust.

Highly durable shutter unit: the high-precision shutter unit has been tested to 150,000 cycles, with a maximum shutter speed of 1/4000 sec. and flash sync up to 1/200 sec.

Large 8 cm (3.2 inch), 921,000-dot LCD with wide viewing angle and reinforced glass. It offers bright, crisp image reproduction with wide color reproduction capability.

Silent shooting mode: the noise of the camera's mirror return mechanism has been greatly reduced during burst shooting, making it ideal for taking pictures with maximum discretion.

Dual-axis electronic virtual horizon: rotation (horizontal tilt) and roll (forward or backward tilt) information can be confirmed via the LCD display, and pan information can be confirmed via the viewfinder.

Scene Recognition System: The camera's image sensor and 2016-pixel RGB sensor provide accurate data to the Scene Recognition System, optimizing exposure, autofocus and white balance just before the shutter is released for sharp, razor-sharp images.

Self-cleaning sensor unit: reduces dust build-up on the front of the image sensor.

Spot White Balance Metering: enables highly accurate manual white balance settings by allowing you to quickly assign a Spot White Balance to a specific area of the frame you have selected during live view shooting. The target you define can be moved around the frame using the multi-selector, allowing you to quickly acquire current data for even distant subjects without the need to use a gray card.

Crop Mode: DX format. It is possible to activate DX Crop Mode automatically when a DX lens is installed. When shooting in Live view mode, the Df from NIKON helps you with image composition by offering optional assisting grid lines for 1:1 or 16:9 image ratios.

Optimal detail in high-contrast conditions: two modes help you capture detail in bright light or backlit situations. HDR (High Dynamic Range) is ideal for static subjects and Active D-Lighting is ideal for photos with moving subjects. Both modes allow you to select the level of intensity.

In-cameracreative tools: use the Picture Controls to fine-tune parameters such as sharpness, saturation and hue before shooting. Use the extended Photo Retouch menu to access a wide range of tools and effects.

Power-saving design: Enables approx. 1400 shots* (with EN-EL14a battery, in single-frame shooting mode).

Storage media: compatible with standard SDXC and UHS-I memory cards and cards eye-fi.

Creative Lighting System from NIKON: fully compatible with NIKON 's industry-leading Creative Lighting System, which includes a range of versatile flashes for creative flash photography, either built-in to the camera or external.
