The Minolta MD Lens for Fujifilm X-Mount Camera Speed Booster ULTRA from Metabones improves on the original Metabones Speed Booster with a 5/4 optical design group element incorporating ultra-high refractive index tantalum-based glass to improve sharpness and distortion and reduced vignetting. The Ultra Booster speed allows a full-frame Minolta MD lens to be mounted on an APS-C X-Mount format camera and in doing so, increases the viewing angle and increases the maximum aperture by about one f/stop.

When a lens intended for full 35mm frame or film sensors is mounted on a camera with an APS-C size sensor, it transmits a larger area of light than the smaller sensor was built to accept and therefore the effective angle of view of the lens increases. The Speed Booster condenses the light from the lens and projects it onto the APS-C sensor which allows the sensor to use the entire lens' light and effectively reduces the crop factor of APS-C and E-Mount camera from 1.5x to 1.07x, producing a full frame angle of view with an APS-C sensor. A corresponding increase in the maximum aperture of one f/stop makes the lens more effective in low-light situations and capable of creating a depth of field.

Although the lens fits physically, the automatic diaphragm (AE Measurement), or other auto functions are not preserved the use of this speed booster. Speed Metabones Boosters are quality made, using precision machined brass with chrome plating on both the camera body and lens side of the booster dose in order to ensure smooth mounting, aesthetic quality, and durability. A matte black interior reduces internal reflections and a satin black split external surface with most camera bodies and lenses. This adapter has a detachable tripod foot that is compatible with the Swiss Ark, Markins and Photo Clam ball joints.

It allows a full Minolta MD lens mount to be mounted to a Fujifilm X-APS-C mount format camera and, in doing so, increases the viewing angle and increases the maximum aperture by one f/stop.
The Ultra Speed Booster design incorporates ultra-high index tantalum-based optical glass for improved optical performance with increased corner sharpness and reduces distortion and vignetting. This glass technology and optical design perform extremely well with professional level f/2.8 zoom lenses and high-speed fixed focal length lenses, such as a 50mm f/1.2 which will perform as a 35.5mm f/0.9 lens of high contrast and resolution from the center to the edges of the image.
Precise fit and solid connection - lens has no play, gap or wiggle when riding in speed booster and no adjustments are required to fit your lens. Both the camera side and the lens side of the speed booster are brass which is precision machined and chrome plated.
The Speed Booster uses the matte black treatment to avoid internal reflection to a minimum in order to maintain the maximum possible optical quality with the lens. The exterior features a black satin surface finish.
Designed to achieve infinite focus while maintaining the correct register distance required to maintain the optical quality of lenses or lenses with FLOATING CRC elements.
