Profoto brings to market the most powerful, easy-to-use and versatile external flash that has ever existed: the revolutionary Profoto B1 500W AirTTL. Off-camera Flash. With TTL. No wires. The highlight is the B1's innovative TTL function. This is a new advance of Profoto (patent in process) that integrates the flash and the camera. It works like this: Install the Air Remote TTL-C unit on your camera's shoe, aim, shoot with your camera, and the B1 automatically adjusts the light power for perfect exposure. Photographers who prefer to adjust the light themselves can switch to manual control simply by pressing a button

The Air Remote TTL-C is a small device that mounts on the shoe and acts as a wireless link between the camera and the flash, providing manual and TTL control over the B1 lights in a maximum of three groups individually. The remote is sold separately, so photographers can choose the right one for their camera. The Air Remote TTL-C for CANON cameras compatible with E-TTL II launches alongside the B1. The Air Remote TTL-N for NIKON cameras compatible with i-TTL will be available throughout 2014. (Visit www.profoto.com/b1 for the full list of supported cameras.)

Another interesting feature is the fact that the B1 is completely wireless. It works with an interchangeable battery, synchronized wirelessly and controlled with the Air system. This allows the photographer to take the B1 anywhere. The battery provides up to 220 shots at full power, and the Air system has a range of up to 300m (1,000ft).

The B1 is especially powerful for its compact size. At 500Ws, it's about 10 times more powerful than the average speedlight. It is enough to predominate over sunlight on a sunny day, or to illuminate large groups.
