Laowa Proteus 35mm lens

This Laowa Proteus 2x Anamorphic 35mm T2 lens from Venus Optics is a slim and compact anamorphic lens that captures high-definition video with 2x anamorphic compression on cameras with S35+ sensors such as ALEXA 35 and RED V-RAPTOR. It features a 35mm focal length, interchangeable PL and EF lens mounts, an aperture range of T2 to T22 for great depth of field, 10 iris sheets for shallow depth of field and smooth bokeh, and 2x anamorphic compression to capture a vintage cinema-style anamorphic look. Using an optional 1.4x full-frame expansion adapter, Proteus lenses can also cover a full-frame sensor.

The main lens has a minimum focusing distance of 21.6" and offers anamorphic qualities such as high contrast, blue lens flares and a 73° horizontal field of view. Other features include measuring marks on feet, 0.8 MOD cine gears in focus and aperture rings, an outer diameter of 114mm and a 105mm front filter thread The ARRI PL lens mount is interchangeable and can be exchanged for the included EF mount bayonet.

2x constant compression ratio
With a compression ratio of 2x, you'll have 2.66:1 on a 4:3 sensor and 2.4:1 on a 6:5 sensor after decompression. Provides room to crop to a golden aspect ratio of 2.39:1. The 2x compression ratio produces an ultra-wide screen cinematic look that is desired by the film industry. The compression ratio remains constant at any focusing distance to avoid anamorphic mumps.

Grand opening
With a T2 aperture, the quick aperture helps filmmakers shoot in low-light conditions. It also creates a shallow depth of field with a waterfall-like drop in focus.

Sharpness
With impressive sharpness and contrast in open spaces, the Laowa Proteus series meets the demanding requirements of film production.

Close focus distance
The lens can focus at a minimum distance of 21.6" from the subject, easily creating cinematic scenes with sharp close-ups.

Nice bokeh
An elliptical bokeh effect occurs in the out-of-focus area, which is an anamorphic character characteristic of the strong cinematic appearance. The bokeh effect with a compression ratio of 2x is noticeably thinner and longer.

Blue anamorphic flash color
The traditional blue flash is common in the market and is suitable for science fiction movies and good vibes.

Low-focus breathing
Both changes in angle of view and framing are kept to a minimum when adjusting focus.

Sensor coverage
With S35+ sensor coverage, Laowa Proteus is compatible with the ARRI ALEXA 35 sensor in a 2.39:1 ratio and the RED V-RAPTOR sensor in 7K 6:5 ANA. With an optional 1.4x full-frame adapter, Proteus can cover full-frame sensors with sharpness and image quality.

Unified running position
The unified gear position allows users to switch lenses quickly and without readjustments to the focus gear.

0.8 MOD Gears
Industry standard 0.8 MOD gears are installed in both the aperture and focus rings.

Flange rear adjustment
The lens allows users to adjust the rear focus easily.
