The Loxia 50mm f2.0 Planar T* ZEISS lens is a normal primary lens for full-frame SONY E-mount mirrorless digital cameras. Its manual focus design has been developed in regards specifically for use with electronic viewfinders, and it also features a manual aperture ring that can be 'click-and-click' for quiet operation best suited for filmmakers. Based on the concept of Planar symmetrical optics, this lens is expert in correcting chromatic aberrations and distortion throughout the aperture range while maintaining image coherence and clarity. In addition, an anti-reflective coating ZEISS T* has also been applied to individual lens elements to further reduce lens glare and ghosting to improve image clarity and contrast. Serving as a unique choice for the contemporary image creator, the ZEISS Loxia series of lenses are built for the imaging demands of modern full-frame digital cameras, still based on conventional manual controls. Offering a perspective reminiscent of normal eyesight, the 50mm focal length pairs and with the fast f/2 maximum aperture for greater focus position control and low-light performance. In addition, lens handling details have also been enhanced for maximum regeneration and accuracy, including a 180° long focus shot, clearly engraved scale marks, and a robust, all-metal construction with weatherproof lenses for gasket mounting. In addition, the lens is equipped with an electronic interface that transmits all EXIF data from the camera and can also be configured to automatically activate camera-based focus assists during use.

Prime Normal Length Lens is designed specifically for full-frame E-mount mirrorless digital cameras. However, this lens can also be used with E-mount size APS-C cameras, where a focal length equivalent to 35mm of 75mm will be provided.
F/2 Fast benefits maximum working aperture in difficult lighting conditions and also allows greater control over focus placement for depth of field and selective focus applications.
Based on the concept of planar optics, the lens incorporates a symmetrical design of six elements out of four-group that helps reduce distortion and chromatic aberrations.
Anti-reflective coatings ZEISS T* have been applied to each lens surface to help minimize reflections in order to provide greater image clarity, contrast and color fidelity.
Manual focus design is accentuated by a fluted metal focus ring, 180° rotation angle focus ring and depth of field and distance engraved scale marks.
The manual aperture ring has a means to stop clicking on the entire f/2 and f/22 aperture range. Using the included De-click Tool, this ring can be mechanically for smooth and silent rotation throughout the 'click-' aperture range; making it ideal for video applications.
The lens mount is equipped with an electronic interface that transmits all EXIF data from the camera lens and can also be set to automatically activate the camera's focus magnification function when rotating the focus ring.
An all-metal lens tube is equipped with a weatherproof gasket on the lens mount to protect against moisture and dust reaching the image sensor or rear lens element.
