The EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM CANON Lens is a compact multi-purpose "standard" light zoom lens with a focal length equivalent to 27-136 in the 35mm format. It is compatible with DSLR cameras that use the APS-C format and provides a versatile set of focal lengths, from wide-angle to telephoto.
This lens features CANON optical image stabilization technology, which provides up to 3 comprehensive compensation for blurry images caused by camera shake with slow shutter speeds. A ring-type ultrasonic autofocus motor provides fast and quiet autofocus action and manual focus is supported even when in AF mode.
Designed specifically for digital photography, it has a 17 element 12 of group construction, including a double-sided aspherical element for reduced and sharp aberrations, of great contrast in the details from corner to corner. Coating of the specialized lenses of CANON suppress the appearance of ghost images and the shines and an optional sunshade can further reduce the incidence of flare. A rounded 6-blade aperture offers pleasant out-of-focus backgrounds when shooting with a depth of field.
