2nd Generation AF 85mm F1.4 FE

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the formation of Samyang Optics, it presents the second generation of AF series lenses with improved performance based on the experience and technology accumulated over the years. The starting gun was given with the AF 50mm F1.4 FE II, later the AF 35mm F1.4 FE II was announced, and they are now joined by the AF 85mm F1.4 FE II, the second edition of one of the most popular lenses since Samyang launched its first Autofocus lens in 2016.

Extraordinary central resolution

The 4 high refractive (HR) and one extra low dispersion (ED) glass elements of the new AF 85mm F1.4 FE II provide impressive contrast and resolution. Its central resolution is superior to that of other comparable objectives. Thanks to advanced coating technology patented by Samyang the AF 85mm F1.4 FE II maintains excellent image sharpness even in low light conditions and provides a clearer image with an improved Color Contribution Index (CCI).

Faster, more accurate and quieter autofocus motor performance

The Samyang linear stepper motor (STM) provides the torque needed for fast, accurate and quiet autofocus tracking, maximizing the benefits of SONY E-mount camera technology. Compared to the previous version, this new AF 85mm F1.4 FE II is optimized for both stills and movie recording, minimizing vibration and noise. AF, which follows the subject fast and accurately, also works quietly and smoothly when shooting video. Samyang 's linear STM satisfies photographers and videographers alike with quieter and more precise control of focusing lens groups.

Offers extremely clean and beautiful bokeh

The AF 85mm F1.4 FE II is the only FE-mount lens that does not feature a single aspherical lens. When using aspherical crystals to improve optical performance, concentric circles may appear that "dirty" the bokeh, which is a negative factor in the evaluation of the bokeh. The AF 85mm F1.4 FE II does not have any aspherical glass in its elements, and therefore has a pure and beautiful bokeh!

Greater operability and reliability

The most important features of the AF 85mm F1.4 FE II are 1) Focus hold button and 2) Custom switch. Overall, this lens meets professional requirements for control and reliability for both stills and videos.

1) Focus hold button

When you press this button on the lens, it will remain locked at that focusing distance. Functions such as Eye AF can be assigned in the camera body settings.

2) Custom switch

There is a custom switch, which can be set to allow adjustment of the aperture silently, by rotating the focus ring. Using the Lens Station (optional accessory), you can configure the mode to suit your own preferences*.

Modern design and anti-humidity weathering sealing

The AF 85mm F1.4 FE II has been developed and improved, taking into account both its design and the user's shooting environment. It features a microscopic patterned rubber focus ring, a sleek silver ring, a hidden red ring and a matte finish that's very pleasant to handle. In addition, its weatherproof (in 7 susceptible zones) protects the target from light rain, snow and dust.

Minimum focusing distance of 0.85 m

The minimum focusing distance is only 85 cm, making the lens perfect for flattering portraits such as full-length or mid-shot. It is possible to create a very close perspective of the subject and also emphasize some traits according to interest to highlight, for example, certain foods on a table.
